Schlepping

Always SchleppingAnother of Ab’s themes was schlepping.  Like much Yiddish and Yinglish it conveys more than just carrying something.  The schlep has this strong sense of trudging – it’s wearying, exhausting; it’s awkward, uncomfortable and tedious.  There’s also a tone of inevitability in the schlep; a responsibility – but an unwelcome one.
